Where do I get the codes for feed you use? For example, if I go to Yahoo (where you say you get your stock info feed from) the code for the 'Dow Jones Industrial Average' is ^DJI, but putting that into your program gives me 'dajin resources corp'. Now, I don't want you to just tell me the code for the Dow Jones Industrial Average, because that won't help me with my overall problem of finding a reliable source for many many different codes, and you would soon get annoyed at me asking you every time I wanted one.
When using real time quotes, it is downloaded from google, so use whatever works for google finance. When setting the system option "real time" to unchecked, everything is downloaded from Yahoo, however - it is most likely 20 minutes delayed.
I'm sorry, but the free online sources for real time quote (google) and 20 minutes delayed (yahoo), both provide only 2 decimal places - their front website might have more details, but their open web usable interface doesn't.
the settings document is in your documents folder. Delete "stocksTicker options.xml" and try again. I believe the ability to set opacity all the way down was fixed in version 1.8.4
If you choose "real time quotes", you need the relevant ticker for google finance, otherwise -uncheck that box in the options and choose the ticker relevant to Yahoo!Finance
I am trying to add some counters from Singapore Exchange, eg T39 but they are not coming out.
The counter by itself gives me another counter from US stock exchanges. I have tried both adding prefix "SGX:" or suffix ".SI" and ".S" as per google finance and yahoo finance respectively but it is not turning up.
if the stocks are from Singapore stock exchange, then you need to use the relevant ticker supported by Yahoo!Finance to access them. If you try to access McDonald's stock in the US, MCD, it works from within the US.
Nifty application. Have you considered sharing the source code? The idea is to further customize the view and support another exchanges.
ReplyDeleteFor earlier versions I did release it with source code.

DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to get 3 decimal places?
I am reading the ASX.
It is currently impossible to tell if a stock has changed from say 0.031 - it doesn't show me the 3rd decimal place..
Thanks
SImon.

ReplyDeleteHi, How can I see the composite indexes? I would like to see Nasdaq Composite, I try .IXIC, but not work.

use T29.SI and un-check "real time quotes" to allow Yahoo!Finance based quotes instead of google.
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteThank you. It works now. But I do notice that if I do that, I will have to add the .SI for all tickers.
Fyi, cos not sure if it is meant to be that way

DeleteThe ticker has stopped working. I've uninstalled/reinstalled and restarted with no luck; bummer!
ReplyDeletetry deleting the "stockTicker options.xml" from your My Documents folder. Check if you have internet connection issues... email me for further support
DeleteUpdate: Google stopped real-time quotes service, new release 1.8.5 available today, all quotes are from Yahoo now
DeleteGot it and back in business. great work. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt might be worth taking a look at tradingview.com who does offer real-time data through the BATS exchange; just a thought.
